NCUE students now have another opportunity to pursue academic degrees in the United States. NCUE has recently established a partnership with the prestigious Temple University, and both institutions have signed agreements for Dual Bachelor's Master's Degree (DBMD) Study Plan (3+2) and the Master's 1+1 Program (1 semester or 1 academic year). Importantly, the DBMD Study Plan has no restrictions on majors, and Temple University will tailor courses for students based on their academic progress at NCUE. Additionally, most programs do not require submission of GRE or GMAT scores. Students interested in applying are welcome to contact the International Office for further information. Temple University is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the East Coast of the United States. Established in 1884, it is a comprehensive research university and ranks among the top 350 universities globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Temple’s status as an R1 Carnegie Classification Doctoral University places it among the most active research universities in the nation. It has also built a strong reputation for being named a top-25 producer of the prestigious Fulbright Scholars. The university comprises 18 schools and offers over 600 academic degree programs, with campuses in locations such as Tokyo and Rome, attracting students from over 100 countries worldwide. According to the DBMD agreement, undergraduate students can attend Temple University during their fourth and fifth years to study advanced courses. This allows students to complete the credits required for graduation from both universities in five years while obtaining a Bachelor's degree from NCUE and a Master's degree from Temple. NCUE graduate students can study at Temple during their second year, earning dual Master's degrees from both institutions. Applicants are required to meet language proficiency requirements (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo) and maintain a good GPA. However, they are exempt from submitting traditional standardized test scores (GRE or GMAT) for admission, with the exception of the business school, where outstanding academic performance may grant applicants a waiver. Furthermore, Temple University offers comprehensive support for application processes, housing, scholarships, and course selection. Specialized travel and activities are arranged for DBMD students. Temple also provides guidance for internships and employment. Graduates are eligible to apply for a 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States, and STEM degree graduates may have the opportunity to extend this period for up to three years. Philadelphia, known as the "City of Brotherly Love," is one of the oldest cities in the United States, celebrated for its art, culture, education, and historical sites from the colonial period. The city's population is approximately 1.6 million, making it one of the largest cities on the East Coast, second only to New York City. Philadelphia offers convenient transportation, with Temple University located in the urban area, just a 15-minute subway ride from Center City of Philadelphia. Philadelphia has been named one of the most walkable cities in the U.S., offering diverse elements such as shopping, dining, entertainment, culture, and tourism within easy walking distance. Philadelphia Chinatown is a particularly popular destination for Taiwanese students to explore and purchase food ingredients. Moreover, Philadelphia is conveniently located between New York City and the U.S. capital, Washington, D.C., making same-day round trips feasible, similar to the distance between Taipei and Taichung, and Taipei and Yunlin in Taiwan. NCUE International Office encourages students interested in studying on exchange at Temple University or participating in BDMD to take language proficiency tests as early as possible to ensure ample time for application procedures.
