President of KMUTT, One of Thailand's Leading Universities, Visits NCUE's College of Technology, Facilitating Student Internship Program

Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), one of Thailand's leading universities, led a delegation to visit NCUE on November 18, 2024. During the visit, they exchanged views on academic cooperation with Professor Kai-Chao Yao, Dean of the College of Technology, Professor Wei-Ze Huang, Director of the Department of Industry Education and Technology, and Professor Hon-Man Lee, Dean of the International and Cross-Strait Affairs Office (OICA). KMUTT is one of NCUE’s partner universities, and both institutions are eager to deepen their partnership by offering students enhanced opportunities for internships and research.

Established in 1960, KMUTT is one of Thailand's nine national research universities. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, KMUTT ranks among the top three universities in Thailand. It holds a leading position in fields such as engineering and technology, physics, computer science, and life sciences, while also excelling in materials, energy, geosciences, environmental protection, bioengineering, and architecture. Renowned for its engineering and technology programs, KMUTT is a major contributor to the development of human resources in Thailand.

NCUE has maintained a longstanding and close partnership with KMUTT. Since establishing a partner-university relationship in 2017, NCUE has sent students to KMUTT for exchange programs and has also organized Chinese cultural camps for KMUTT students, while KMUTT has visited NCUE on three separate occasions.

The KMUTT delegation on November 18 included eight members, such as the President, the Vice President for Planning and Strategy, the Assistant to the President for Internationalization, and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology. Other participants included senior administrators overseeing operations in international affairs and collaborations, academic affairs and educational systems, research and development, and educational communication and technology. All of the visitors were faculty members from the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology or the Faculty of Engineering at KMUTT.

The visitors were warmly welcomed by Dean Yao, Director Huang, Dean Lee, OICA Division Head Sally, and others. During the visit, the delegation shared their academic expertise and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including collaborative research, college cooperation, student exchange programs, and course development.

KMUTT emphasizes research and innovation, collaborating with both local and international industries to cultivate human resources with practical skills through integrative projects. Both universities have agreed that KMUTT will offer valuable overseas internship opportunities for NCUE students in the future, while NCUE will continue to encourage its faculty members to recruit outstanding KMUTT students for research projects through the TEEP program.

This collaboration not only strengthens the partnership between the two institutions but also aims to provide more opportunities for their students to study abroad and gain international internship experience.

After the meeting, the guests were led on a tour of the College of Technology and the MW-size energy storage pilot system.
