Today’s email includes details about: Fall 2024 confirmed programs, the cancellation of our Chemistry program, an increase in the Duolingo minimum score, application deadlines, and updated materials. Fall 2024 Programs Visiting Student Programs:
Professional Certificates:
After much consideration, we have decided to close the Berkeley Chemistry Visiting Student Program (Chem VSP), effective Fall 2024. The last semester of the program will run in Spring 2024. Future students interested in chemistry courses will have the option to take them in our Berkeley Global Access Program (BGA). Thank you! If you have any questions about program changes, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
English Proficiency Requirement Update - Duolingo
ETS has adjusted their TOEFL <> Duolingo score comparison. As such, we are aligning the minimum score for Duolingo to ensure that students are meeting the minimum requirements. Effective Fall 2024 admissions cycle, the minimum Duolingo score will be increased from 115 to 125.
Fall 2024 Application Deadlines
Program applications for Visiting Student Programs will open March 1st. Applications for the Full Time Certificate Programs will open in February.

Nominations
We prefer to receive nominations from all partner universities because it allows us to provide direct support to your students with the application process. We require nominations from all partners whose students will be sponsored by their university (“sponsor pay”). Please send nominations to Jacqueline Verdin < jverdin@berkeley.edu >. After nominations are received, I will email your students directly with instructions on how to apply. I will provide admissions advising to your students throughout the application process. 柏克萊加利福尼亞大學（英語：University of California, Berkeley；常用縮寫：UC Berkeley或Cal），簡稱柏克萊加州大學，又常被譯為加利福尼亞大學柏克萊分校、加州大學柏克萊分校，是一所位於美國加利福尼亞州舊金山灣區柏克萊市，世界著名的公立研究型大學。柏克萊加州大學是加利福尼亞大學系統的創始大學，建立於1868年。泰晤世高等教育機構將柏克萊連同哈佛大學、麻省理工學院、史丹福以及英國的牛津劍橋列為六間世界最頂尖超級大學（英語："Super Six Universities" ）。
在眾多機構的排名中，柏克萊位列全球大學排行前五名，是世界頂尖的公立大學之一。 柏克萊是美國大學協會的14個創始會員之一，並與美國能源部的三所美國國家實驗室保持緊密聯繫，包括勞倫斯柏克萊國家實驗室、勞倫斯利福摩爾國家實驗室以及洛斯阿拉莫斯國家實驗室，而許多世界著名的研究機構包括美國國家數學科學研究所、柏克萊空間科學實驗室也都位於柏克萊。通過與加州大學舊金山分校合作，柏克萊還設置有醫學教學及研究專案。

在世界大學排名中心（Center for World University Rankings）主辦的世界大學排名中，柏克萊位列世界第6名。 柏克萊是培養華人精英的搖籃和聚集地之一，培養了朱棣文、李遠哲兩個華人諾貝爾獎得主，而著名華裔物理學家吳健雄、莊小威，菲爾茲獎得主、數學家丘成桐，美國NASA前太空人焦立中，孫中山長子、政治家孫科，台灣親民黨主席宋楚瑜，宏達電董事長王雪紅等也都畢業於柏克萊。知名數學家陳省身、諾貝爾獎得主錢永健、諾貝爾獎得主李政道、圖靈獎得主姚期智、預應力之父林同炎、語言學家趙元任、知名作家張愛玲等等也都曾在柏克萊研究任教。
在2021年《美國新聞與世界報導》的美國大學排名中，柏克萊加州大學位列公立大學第2名，全美第22名。另外，柏克萊的文理學院(College of Letters and Science)則為全美國唯一所有開辦科目均在全國首五位者。 根據美國國家科學研究委員會的調查，柏克萊擁有全美最多十大傑出研究課程。
美國新聞周刊2005年再次評價：柏克萊加州大學15個博士專案拿了3個第一名，僅次於6項第一名的麻省理工學院和4項第一名的史丹佛大學；緊接在後的哈佛大學有2個第一名。 德州農工大學統計教授H.J. Newton以美國國家研究委員會排名，柏克萊無論於整體總分(All Score)或歸零總分(Nonzero Score)均名列全美國第二。
柏克萊加州大學不但開設科目眾多全面，更能維持眾多科目皆有出色表現，研究院更為出色，尤以文、理、工科見長，大多數科目均在2018年的QS世界大學學科排名上名列美國前十名。
