講師簡介

台灣媒體工作者，曾擔任中央廣播電台總台長，畢業於政治大學公共行政學系、暨南國際大學東南亞研究所，曾短期留學胡志明市人文與社會科學大學，略通越南語。創辦為東南亞在臺人士服務的《四方報》、外婆橋計畫、東南亞電視歌唱節目《唱四方》、移民工文學獎、燦爛時光東南亞主題書店，長期關心東南亞在台婚姻移民與勞工議題。

講座概述

1949年至今，來自東南亞的人們因為各種原因落腳台灣，聚集成群，形成「飛地」。東南亞族群飛地的形成，可分為「政治/戰亂」與「經濟」兩大原因；而飛地的運作型態，則可分為「日常型飛地」與「市集型飛地」。

每一座族群飛地，都是動態生成、持續轉化的生活場域，都有其獨一無二的前世今生。

Topic: The Past and Present of Southeast Asian Ethnic Enclaves

Lecture: Cheng Chang

Lecturer Introduction

The Lecture is an experienced Taiwanese media professional and former President of Radio Taiwan International. He earned his bachelor's degree in Public Administration from National Chengchi University and a master's degree from the Graduate Institute of Southeast Asian Studies at National Chi Nan University. He also pursued short-term studies at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities and has basic proficiency in Vietnamese.

He is the founder of The 4-Way Voice, a media platform dedicated to serving Southeast Asian communities in Taiwan, as well as several related initiatives, including the Grandma's Bridge Project, the Southeast Asian TV singing program “Sing 4-Way”, the Migrant Worker Literature Award, and the Brilliant Time Southeast Asian-Themed Bookstore. His long-standing professional focus has been on issues concerning marriage migration and migrant labor from Southeast Asia in Taiwan.

Lecture Overview

Since 1949, people from Southeast Asia have settled in Taiwan for various reasons, forming distinctive communities known as enclaves. The development of these Southeast Asian ethnic enclaves can generally be traced to two primary factors: political or conflict-driven causes and economic motivations. Their modes of operation can be further categorized into everyday-life enclaves and market-type enclaves.

Each enclave represents a dynamic, continuously evolving social space — one that embodies its own unique past and present.

⚠️ Reminders:

1. Participants who cannot attend should cancel their registration before the deadline to release their spot to waitlisted students. After the deadline, the waiting list will be void, and those wishing to attend may register on-site depending on available seats.
2. Registered participants must complete check-in at least 10 minutes before the lecture starts (by 12:50). Late arrivals will be placed on the waiting list and admitted only if space allows.
3. Participants must both sign in and sign out, attend the entire session, and submit a feedback form to receive General Education Passport certification. Late arrivals or early departures will be considered absent.
4. Students who are absent without notice from three registered General Education Passport events will be temporarily suspended from online registration for events during the current and following semesters (on-site registration on the event day will still be allowed).
